last night i had a really weird frog eyes dream. i was at a show, plants and animals opening for frog eyes (thom and sashwap were there) and all i can remember was getting food at a buffet table type thing and ryan beattie was across the table. then the weird thing was reading this forum after the show dan had posted that i had "promptly asked ryan about himalayan bear and impressed him with knowledge of chet" though i really don't know how they're related or anything. that was just weird. as for the show plants and animals weren't really a band it was more of an act and the stage had all sorts of caves and other weird stuff on it. they were all dressed like chubacka or the furry guy from space balls. then the dream ended before frog eyes came on, it was a bummer. it was a goofy dream.

i had my first (as far as i know) frog eyes dream last night! in canada there is this store called music world that used to be pretty popular but has had to compete with HMV, and have ultimately lost. the 73 locations left across the country are being closed down, and a person i know is a manager at one, so its sad. anyways, i've been in there before looking for anything good because all the stock is like 70% off. they had a frog eyes section but nothing was in there. so in the dream, i went into music world, went to the little frog eyes tag, and the bloody hand was there except with a different cover. it was light blue with a dark blue shadow of a woman's faaaaaaaaace on it. somebody was waiting for me so i was just like "oh that's weird" and didn't buy it.

Last night I had a Frog Eyes dream... Carey was at some music seminar taking place in a big warehouse with cement floors. He was sitting in a chair next to Cory Brown from Absolutely Kosher. There were lots of people in the audience watching this woman demonstrate how you could make music from rocking back and forth while sitting in a chair. She wanted Carey to come up and help her demonstrate and I was sitting near Carey and I heard him smile and laugh and say to Cory "aw I don't wanna do that!" Then it cut to another scene of Carey in a boxing ring with a sword, wearing a white cable knit sweater. He was facing off against some other guy, and there was a crowd gathered around the ring. I saw Mel cheering for him, but she looked different - more like how she does in the picture here dawn.cbcr3.com/nmc/6/6790/Images/bandpic.jpg or I guess maybe it's just her hair that was kind of different. (Now that I think of it, maybe I was subconsciously thinking of that picture, since they are arm wrestling and the other band members are cheering them on.) Anyway, I realized that Mel had a twin sister and they were both cheering Carey on. I got to talk to both Mels and they were both really cool. The dream goes on and involves my mom having a New York accent, and everyone having a New York accent all of a sudden (including the Mels), but that concludes the Frog Eyes portion of the dream. Yay!

I wonder if die-hard fans of other bands dream about their heroes as often as we seem to.

Yeah, I was reading the other dreams again, which are all great, and I especially like this part of this one - the band came out and gave everyone cookies, which were really good. i thought that i should email carey to ask for the recipe, but decided i shouldnt since it would be a lot of typing for him. I've had 2 other Frog Eyes dreams, which I will briefly sum up: One involved me at Carey and Mel's house, and Carey hid behind the door and jumped out and surprised Mel. Their house was cool and had lots of sun shining in it. Another time I was at a drive-in movie theatre, and as I walked away from the refreshment stand I saw these HUGE, gigantic vertical banners on the side of a building that was as big as an airplane hanger advertising a Frog Eyes movie, which I think was going to be a documentary. There were about 4 posters, and each one featured a different band member. I was so excited about seeing the movie!

7/3/08 - frog eyes are playing the bug jar in rochester. it's taking them a long time to set up, and then they decide to do the soundcheck in another building. i follow them over and watch them do "idle songs" with a kind of latin big-band/mariachi group adding horns. then they go back to the bug jar and carey comes out and does "idle songs" acapella. he's acting like a drunk, crazy lounge singer. as the song comes to a close, the band begins to take their instruments, except mel is nowhere to be found and ryan beattie is drumming. they launch into a new song that's based around a loud rawk riff. they song ends, and they kind of drift offstage.
END OF PART ONE
to be continued...

END OF PART ONE to be continued... Let's hear Part 2! Last night I dreamt I was seeing Frog Eyes with my family and we were waiting for them to come on, but I woke up before they got onstage. In the dream I was explaining to my parents how shows usually start late and even later than scheduled. I think we were in Chicago and it was at some bar that it didn't seem like Frog Eyes would play in at all. The opening band was a married couple who were showing me pictures of them at home on their digital camera, and I just kept thinking - where is Frog Eyes?!

PART 2: The sad part
so frog eyes have left the stage after two songs, and i wander outside as i wait for their return. when i head back inside, however, SHEARWATER is onstage, dressed in costumes. they and the audience are re-enacting -- school-play style -- some sort of flood (the audience are pretending they are drowning).
i see carey packing up his gear and i walk over to ask what happened. he's very angry, and tells me that they got kicked out of the venue because he used the wrong restroom. i end up walking back to their van, which is enormous. the rest of the band is inside, and i'm standing in the open doorway talking to them. carey starts the van and the stereo starts blaring the new song they had just played live, with the loud rawk riff. i start enthusiastically pumping my fist in the air (because the song rocks so much) and accidentally break a window on their van. i hand them a 20 dollar bill to cover the cost of a new window, and they drive off.
THE END
