"violent psalms" really highlights carey's ability to write slow songs that aren't ballads. i guess it's a dirge? nice use of acapella, as usual.
the instrumental track strongly reminds me of that compilation song "the cardinal's sink."

Another triumph by Carey. It may even top my personal favorite which is Tears.
Carey's literary sensibility is by far the best of any modern musician. From Paul to Shakespeare we see a Frog Eyes that demonstrates what it is to be human.
Frog Eyes is the best music one can listen to if one loves art. I always considered modern music as equivalent to Joyce's definition of "pornography"....but Frog Eyes is true art. Carey shows us the irony of being.
Bravo sir.
I shall be pre-ordering this album when such an option becomes available.

Oh man, you guys are killing this for me. I'm totally going for the religious experience with this one. Voluntary abstinence even after the album comes out. Y'all should totally tune-in. I'm thinking I should read King Lear.

"The Sensitive Girls" is as epic as it was live for me.

That's well said. I also find myself dying for random parts of these songs throughout my day. Like, I need the end of Dr. Roberts, or the beginning of Paul's Tomb, or the opening squeal of Rebel Horns...
Also, I totally agree. I think this song came most to life over the live versions that have been around.
Hey, Dead Oceans, let me preorder already.
