Anyone check out the new Joanna Newsom album yet? Swan Lake's got a lot of work to do if they're going to snatch the album of the year award from me. Talk about mind-blowing! Jesus.

Cosmia returns to me my faith in harps.
That may or may not be a sentence, but it's true.

as excellent as i was expecting. some of the songs are played a bit slow compared to live versions, but the quality of her singing on this is incredible. i loved her voice before, but i also love how it has matured since her first album.
the orchestration is nice; the strings aren't so special, but the accordian, jaw harp, horse skull, banjo, bill callahan, etc. are all super good. um, i still haven't heard "monkey & bear" 'cause it's the only one i wasn't already familiar with from live versions and i want to wait for the album to actually come out. but i expect that one to be as great as the rest.

"Monkey and Bear" has the most interesting production of the album, especially in the introductory passages. You won't be disappointed!
