matisse is hot. musee d'orsay was so boring. post-impressionism is where it's at, but goya gets me too.

wow i know nothing about photography. these are cool, but i don't think i like them. i have a hard time distinguishing good/interesting photography from cheesy-ish desktop wallpaper. the one with the rocket is pretty tight.
(don't cut glen moray much, if at all. there is an unwelcome heavy lurking tobacco-like finish.)

maybe it would help to know that none of them are digitally manipulated at all. jochim knill uses a homemade giant polaroid -- he has to buy large uncut sheet of polaroid film direct from the processing plant and the actual photos are poster size.
i do understand what you mean about desktop wallpaper.
koudelka is cool, though. it's street photography, and nothing is posed, it's just whatever he stumbled across that day (like some old guys pissing on a wall).
i'll think of some more atists to pimp. i almost put some grafitti artists up but i couldn't find any good photos online of the ones i wanted.

okay so wow those pieces are far more nifty than they let on to be. i'd probably have to see them hanging on a wall. i have a hard time believing those four dudes were all pissing at the same time like that.

Hieronymous Bosch www.artchive.com/artchive/b/bosch/delightc.jpg (big; this would probably destroy the thread) (detail) i love this guy. he made these in the early 1500s. quite a departure from his contemporaries, he basically invented surrealism. his depictions of hell are unreal, and only slightly more creepy than his take on paradise.

I don't get into art much outside of Dali and Magritte to be honest. Both are amazing.
