is it the music or the mixing?

i'd guess the music.
when these songs start to take off..... they don't. like sheldon... should be a jam where it ends. if they fleshed out these songs....
DAMN.

it's carey doing an animal collective impression. what's not to love? the songs and the sounds are just really strong. there are so many good melodies.
i'll admit it is a hard EP to swallow after being weened on the other frog eyes albums (especially the first two). but taken on its own terms, it works. it'd probably be mor epopular (amongst us) if it were released as blackout beach.
"sheldon" would be my first choice to rework as a full band song, followed by "i am telling you that cities..."

really going back on this it's better than i thought.
just they could have feasibly extended this into a fantastic 30-minute album.
i still don't see the animal collective reference which is fine; apples and bananas. i like them both.

Eh, to me it feels like the band is about a mile ahead of you, faintly visible on the horizon, and you're desperately running towards them, but you never make any progress.

it's true that they are all half-songs... but they are wholly great.
it's a pretty odd thing, too. i forget it exists a lot. i don't really let it fall into "frog eyes"... it's something else. and there are so many powerful melodies of wonderful lyrics.
howard hi-end, man.

There was so little action for such a long time and then this post just rejuvenated the board like a nice tall cool budweiser on a warm day.
I'll have to listen to the EP again.

frog eyes has little to do with beer. they are whisky 100%.
