So I bought a typewriter(/word processor) on ebay, hoping that it would force me to actually write over Winter break. It arrived to today, and it seemed to work fine until the sixth word, at which point all keys stopped working and the message "CHECK ACTUATOR" appeared on the tiny display screen. I turned it off and back on (as nothing else seemed to be responsive) and it did the same thing after typing the same number of words.
I know the people that sold it to me tested it because their test page was still in it, but they only wrote a few words on a line, which leads me to believe they were aware of the problem. I'd rather try to fix it than have to deal with sending it back (as shipping charges were half the price), so does anyone have any knowledge at all about electric typewriters? My attempts at googling have been unfruitful.
Oh yeah, it is a Silver Reed EX-78 Correctable Typewriter/Word Processor.

The damn thing actually was working right for a few minutes, then the "carriage" (I guess that's what it's called) got stuck at the far right edge. Guess I need find a repairman...
