Slowed down a bit b/c of the holidays and the family being around, etc., but also because this turgid behemoth ( ) is hanging over my head. I have to read it for a course (THE RUSSIAN NOVEL) next semester, and I'm supposed to get a 300 page head start. I understand that it is an Important work, but I don't see myself finding any enjoyment in it. I generally don't like "war" stories or "historical" novels, so I'm not looking forward to these 1000+ pages at all. Would much rather be devoting the time to Gravity's Rainbow, which I've started twice and set aside for conflicts of time and other required texts. On a happier note, my girlfriend got me some good books for Christmas, and I've been reading these in a futile effort of stave off W&P: , First Borges I've read, loving the brevity of the essays Some good poems in here.

finish the first 300 of that tolstoy shlock so you can read gravity's rainbow, dummy!
i've only read like five books but i still consider myself of the proper capacities to recommend such a wonderful hunk of artstuff.

i think it's the giant adenoid. it leaves such a horrid taste in the mouth of even the most will-filled reader. if one can plow through the the suddeness of the adenoid attack dream and blast through mexico's statistics 401 or whatever, you'll be in the zone in no time, havin' a ball, blowin' that harp.

I haven't posted in here in awhile because I've been bogged down with War & Peace. Also reading The Awakening for another class. But I'm most excited about exploring this: , which came in the mail yesterday. Both Carey and Spencer's stories were pretty good.

carey's was pretty good, but i don't think it matched the merchant's ring. i also read the unrelenting storm, which was excellent. haven't delved into the rest yet, but i'll give krugmeister's a shot when next i do.
