dave (the dirty projector) is a buddy from a while back and he's a really cool dude with a cooler voice. unfortunately his releases since the glad fact have been progressively worse, but they're still a fun live band. go see them if it's not too much trouble.
he was the star of a movie i was to make. by no fault of dave longstreth, it was a pailure and never made. don't make movies with manic depressives or musical theatre actors.

i never was totally into the glad fact (though it is growing on me as of late), but there's the one song, "winter is here" that i absolutely am in love with. when the album came out, i'd play that song constantly (it was offered as a free mp3 somewhere), but somehow i managed to forget about it for a few years until a couple of days ago. i was revisiting the album in preparation for the concert (even though i doubt he'll play anything on it) and i remembered a lot of the songs on it and knew them by name and everything, but my favorite song produced barely a glimmer of memory until it came on and i was blown away all over again. great moment of rediscovery.

why the yacht hate? (i've never heard them) so many reasons 1) 2) his name is YACHT (in other words, not yacht or Yacht. YACHT. all caps. that's annoying. it's like that band BOAT. i don't know why, that just annoys me.) 3) i am willfully ignorant of his music, but the half of one song i heard seemed really hipstery and "ironic" and like, really really bad. 4) i don't really want to research this, but it looks like he just gets on stage and sings along to pre-recorded tracks. so, whatever. 5) i've arbitrarily decided to hate him.

I enjoy the Blow, but YACHT is painfully irritating

show report:
yacht was exactly what i expected.
dirty projectors were good. they played the songs i like, and were a bit more "rocky" (or "normal," as arthur put it) than i was expecting. with three vocalist singing the same thing for most of the show (with a LOT of OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH type things), the vocals got a bit monotonous.

I saw Rock Plaza Central and O'Death on Thursday. I had the chance to see Animal Collective tonight, but I passed. When I saw them in the Spring it was one of the "utterly terrible" shows, despite a few high points.

When I saw them in the Spring it was one of the "utterly terrible" shows, despite a few high points. i saw a few clips of animal collective live...it pretty much assured i would never go through much trouble to see them. how was rock plaza central?
